About Me

My name is Zuzana, and I’d love to share just a few words about how my passion for all things hand-crafted started!
My teenage years were marked with a feeling of not knowing what I was really good at.
All I did was a little bit of drawing here and there, and an awful lot of reading!
However, the artsy spirit runs deep in my family.
My paternal grandmother, a devoted Christian lady, possessed an extraordinary skill for knitting.
I have never seen anybody make such beautiful and complicated patterns so quickly and effortlessly (maybe except my Godmother!).
Her sweaters and cardigans were unbelievable.
I admire the beauty of her sweaters until today – she’d finish it the night before mass, and wear it to churn on Sunday morning! Vivid memories such as this are stuck with me forever.
Her son (my father) on the other hand, loved painting – he mastered woodcarving and one time even dabbled in tapestries. Through him, I learnt about yoga, DaVinci, chess, and loving nature.
Nature-inspired patterns became an integral part of my work, all thanks to his influence.
My mom and her sister are exceptional seamstresses. My mom would watch American sitcoms (like Dynasty) in the 1980s and reproduce fabulous dresses she’d seen on the TV just a few hours prior, without too much planning, off the top of her head!
Her sister Mary was also a skilled seamstress, sewing for Slovak celebrities in the capital – Bratislava – all the way from the 70s till the 90s.
Their mother, my beloved Granny, made the most beautifully embroidered pieces from around the 1920s, her work was later sold by Jewish traders all over the country.
She kept embroidering well into her 80s and we treasure her work until today, for example by using her Richelieu embroidered tablecloths only for special occasions.
Moving to present times – even my older son is very artsy! Despite having a professional corporate career, he finished art school and spends his free time painting and producing music videos.
Are you starting to see a pattern?
When I was 14, I learned to knit and stitch. When I was 47, I learned how to sew.
Now I’m in my 50s and I love creating unique, one-of-a-kind, bespoke products people will love, from bags and hand-bafs, cross-stitching work, to cards.
My creations are very personal. Like the people I create for, my products are also very different and unique.
I am excited about sharing my passion with the world, and I hope that sometime I can also produce something special, unique and personal for you!
